RATS OF GOMORRAH - Debut Album "Infectious Vermin" via Testimony Records - Video Clip Premiere

Testimony Records proudly announces the debut album of German death metal duo RATS OF GOMORRAH, "Infectious Vermin", set for release on January 17th 2025 on CD, LP, Tape and in digital formats.

Guitarist and vocalist Daniel Stelling and Moritz Paulsen on drums had already been a part of the internationally active Northern German death metal trio DIVIDE since 2009, which had become a duo in 2016. In this formation the musicians that have claimed Bolt Thrower, Carcass and Vader as major sources of influence managed to establish an excellent name in the death metal underground. In fact their standing in this scene grew to such an extent that DIVIDE was able to tour not only throughout all of Europe, but also in Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, and even in India. In 2022, they even won the German competition of the Wacken Metal Battle and were awarded a slot at the largest and most famous metal festival of this planet.

Despite their legacy and all the hard work that it took to establish their name, the duo was not content to remain within the limitations of their stylistic mould. Although they stayed true to death metal, they already started to make their music more rough and dirty, expanded their horizon with elements from black, thrash and other influences from extreme music, and even added a healthy dose of weirdness. Out of respect for their previous works and acknowledging the changes, the two Germans decided to change the band name to RATS OF GOMORRAH.

And although RATS OF GOMORRAH are averse to simply regurgitating all the tired clichés of an average death metal album, they have not completely abandoned that ship. They just took some detours into heavy and speed metal territory, kept vocal pitching varied, and added some hot spices such as crust-infused riffs and catchy choruses.

Get a first impression with the video clip for the advance track "Swarming Death" at this location: https://youtu.be/3vl_4O9dR6k

Frontman Daniel comments: "This track is an amalgamation of everything we have to offer: a lot of ‘blegh’, grooves, hard hitting drums and a catchy chorus! Lyrically, ‘Swarming Death’ spins forth the tale of our track ‘Rats Of Gomorrah’ (from the predecessor band Divide’s ‘Oblitherion’, 2021), which is about none other than world domination!"

CAPILLA ARDIENTE - Full Album Stream via High Roller Records - Where Gods Live And Men Die

"Where Gods Live And Men Die" , the new album of Chilean epic doom metallers CAPILLA ARDIENTE, is now streaming in its entirety.

You can listen to the full album here: https://youtu.be/YPFw_43BB5g

"Where Gods Live And Men Die" will be officially released on October 18th 2024 via High Roller Records. The band’s third full-length was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by the band’s guitar player Igor Leiva at Atomic Noise Studios in Santiago de Chile. Drums were recorded at Equinox Studios (Rancagua) and the vocals at Audiocustom Studios (Santiago). The artwork was created by Maciej Kamuda.

Just like its predecessor, 2019's "The Siege", the new album once again contains four very long song, which is not a coincidence, as bass player Claudio Botarro Neira points out: "It’s the way we have developed to tell the stories contained in our lyrics. If our songs are long, it’s because they have many different passages. We tend to see our songs in a sort of ‘cinematographical’ way, where the music has to provide the proper background to tell our tales."

Consequently, "Where Gods Live And Men Die" has a very specific lyrical concept as well: "In a way, it’s the closing story to our two previous albums and our first EP. Again, it’s a solitary journey, but this time it’s the final chapter, a tale of departure. It deals with personal loss, wounds from the youth, disease and the need to overcome and transcend by willpower."

Incorporating quite a few Bathory "Hammerheart" era and early Manowar influences, "Where Gods Live And Men Die" shows that CAPILLA ARDIENTE are way more than an orthodox epic doom metal band. Claudio comments: “I think that since the first EP, and due to the limitations brought by being just two musicians on a quest, we have been moving from a more traditional and in your face doom riffing style to a more epic/broad sound, which can be noted in the progression from the 'Solve Et Coagula' EP to the first album 'Bravery, Truth And The Endless Darkness'. We have become better musicians, I guess. With 'The Siege', and as a five-piece band, I think CAPILLA ARDIENTE has finally found its own, unique style, which is quite evident on 'Where Gods Live And Men Die'. And I don’t think our future songs will differ much more in terms of heavyness or complexity.”

2. The Hands of Fate Around My Neck
3. Now Here. Nowhere.

VALDAUDR - Sophomore Album "Du Skal Frykte" via Soulseller Records - Norwegian Black Metal Track Premiere

Almost 4 years after their highly acclaimed debut album “Drapsdalen”, VALDAUDR returns with the mighty follow up which brings even more nostalgia and atmosphere from the past to the table. There's a bit more melodic touch to “Du Skal Frykte”, but in the right way. Often reminding of the great early Satyricon, Ulver and other scene pillars the album still brings you back to the early 90's and the whole reason why we started enjoying this epic and majestic genre.

OLD FOREST - New UK Black Metal Album "Graveside" via Soulseller Records - Lyric Video Premiere

UK Black Metallers OLD FOREST have revealed a first song from their upcoming new full-length "Graveside", set for release on December 6th 2024 via Soulseller Records on CD, LP and in digital versions.

Check out the lyric video for the opening track, "Curse of Wampyr", here: https://youtu.be/bZX-xraneR0

OLD FOREST's 8th album since 1998 is a re-affirmation of the band's purpose and aims, and differs from its predecessor in many ways. "Graveside" embraces a definite primitive and regressive approach to both its writing and recording ; it is a work of deliberate imperfection. From the first notes, it is obviously replete with references both musically and lyrically to those tried & tested themes of Black Metal and horror classics - but always with reverence, and never platitudinous.

"Graveside" is an indulgence in (and of) the most celebrated and earliest "naive" works of such luminaries of the early 90's scene as Emperor, Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir, Gehenna and others. As such, it shows OLD FOREST's willingness to regress back to their roots and once more adopt instinctive and spontaneous composition and recording, whilst casting aside such trivial matters as "innovation" or "perfection".

Some will say that "Graveside" is an intellectualisation of the moronic in Black Metal, but those who embrace its deliberate imperfections will hear a ferociously honest return to the youthful blasphemy of Black Metal and a rejection of the overtly commercial.

THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG - EP sequel to legendary album "Traveller" announced for 2025 via Cruz Del Sur Music

Space pirates beware! Venerable San Francisco metal institution THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG is now in the studio with longtime producer/engineer Justin Weis to track the EP sequel to their legendary 2003 album, “Traveller”. The EP is set for an early 2025 via Cruz Del Sur Music.

The effort will mark the first recording with new drummer Austen Krater. Furthermore, as founding member, vocalist and guitarist Mike Scalzi explains, the follow-up to “Traveller” will come in the nice, tidy, compact format of an EP.

“I wanted to do an EP that was around 20 minutes of music rather than a full-length album,” he says. “I have struggled with coming up with fresh-sounding music for years. After ten albums, a lot of metal riffs really fall into a rut and I never want to do dull, filler songs to complete albums. So, I just sort of ‘cut off the flab.’ After all, most records have about five good songs (if that) on them, and then a bunch of time-consuming filler—you know, long guitar solos and boring atmospheric doom parts. Spare me. I’ll cut off the flab and give people just the juicy stuff. Hopefully, this EP delivers that: Lean and mean heavy metal without all the fluff.”

Scalzi promises that the EP will continue the ‘Traveller’ story with the same characters and struggles, not to mention themes involving asteroids and vegetable spores. (“Even though it’s absurd to imagine vegetation growing on an asteroid.”)

“For some strange reason, the original ‘Traveller’ game adventures often contain ecological and plant-life themes,” notes Scalzi. “It’s interesting and not traditionally the focus of sci-fi. I love it. So, we had spores on the last one. This time, we have Ephemeral Glades from the ‘Mission On Mithril Traveller’ adventure from 1980. I used this setting because I love the idea of ephemeral plant life on an ice planet that only blooms when the temperature goes above freezing. It’s a great place for a hybrid dog man to hide, but I don’t want to give away too much…”

As for the musical direction, the new songs are “weirder” than the original “Traveller”, although Scalzi notes the first song is a “total rocker.” The band left a lot of ideas on the cutting room floor, but through the process of elimination, they emerged with five songs. “We were happy with ‘New Organon’,” says Scalzi. “It took ages to write the songs because we ditched so many mediocre ideas along the way. We did the same with this one. I was coming up with riffs throughout the pandemic, but very few will make it onto the record—only the ones that continue to excite us, which isn’t that many, which is another reason why it’s an EP.”

Five years have passed since the aforementioned “New Organon”. Since then, THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG (who are rounded out by longtime bassist Adrian Maestas and second guitarist Angelo Tringali) experienced the usual highs and lows of the pandemic. The band also launched its podcast that helped keep fans engaged. When the pandemic subsided and the world opened up, Krater fell into their laps.

“He’s revitalized things musically,” enthuses Scalzi. “He’s pretty young and writes a lot of guitar parts, some of which are incorporated into new ‘Traveller’ songs. We've been to Europe with him three times now, and various shows and festivals in the United States. We’re excited.”

ATARAXIE - New Track Premiere - New Album "Le Déclin" coming soon via Ardua Music & Weird Truth Productions

French Doom/Deathers ATARAXIE have revealed another song from their upcoming fifth album "Le Déclin", set for release on October 25th 2024 via Ardua Music & Weird Truth Productions on CD, double LP, tape and digitally.

You can listen to the track "The Collapse" here: https://youtu.be/1GRPfaowfrU

The band comments: "'The Collapse' is the final song of our new album. You’ll find inside all main ATARAXIE ingredients, ie a real head banging death metal chorus, furious blast bleats, gloomy clean guitar and funeral doom parts to tie the rope around your neck. So it should appeal to all people supporting us since our early beginning."

They continue: "The lyrics deal with the true loneliness of each human being in these troubled times led by fools and populists. Emotions keep on guiding the masses towards a frustrating life free of legacy. Too many people are trapped into virtual worlds where they bring face to face the worst absurdities and pretend to be spokesmen of new schools of thoughts. As only popularity matters at the end, scientific consensus is now regularly questioned or mocked. (Un)fortunately people turn themselves into Australopithecus minded ones that an old eradicated disease can kill."

Born in the fall of 2000 in Rouen, ATARAXIE take their main inspiration from the early 90s doom/death metal scene and slowest 80s/90s death metal bands. Thus, their genre mainly includes old school death metal parts and classic doom metal ones slowed down in the most extreme way but also various influences from the bleakest metal genres. Their music plays a lot with contrasts in general: ultra slow crushing parts alternate with furious blast beats, mournful parts with more epic ones, and vocals also varies from really deep grunts to tormented screams.

BEDSORE - New Album "Dreaming The Strife For Love" via 20 Buck Spin - Track Premiere

20 Buck Spin proudly announces "Dreaming The Strife For Love", the sophomore full-length of Italy’s BEDSORE. It will be released on November 29th 2024 on LP, CD, Tape and in digital formats.

With the new album, BEDSORE have jumped headfirst into the progressive warmth and obscure atmospheres of the 1970s. Inspired by the mysterious renaissance-era book ‘Hypnerotomachia Poliphili’, the album musically weaves the concepts of love as a battlefield, where desire and devotion are tested through trials and spiritual awakenings, with visions of pagan temples, mystical gardens, and arcane symbols.

Lush, symphonic, ambitious and romantic in scope, BEDSORE’s "Dreaming The Strife For Love" is 2024’s most surprising fusion of 70s Progressive and Dark Death Metal, old and new production elements, the passionate and the horrific. Like so many of their Italian brethren from Goblin and Devil Doll, to Death SS and Black Hole, Bedsore both embrace tradition and blow it up simultaneously.
