‘Brody Dalle aside, we haven’t seen a rock front woman blend petulance and power this convincingly since the 90’s’ – Kerrang

‘There’s a grooving, sensual, grindcore brutality to their undeniably ‘90s-shaped racket that fully manifests itself live; with half an eye on Pantera’s ‘Far Beyond Driven’’ - NME

‘Japanese Voyeurs driving rock mixes the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age and Alice In Chains in equal measure’ – The Fly
London based alt rock quintet Japanese Voyeurs will be releasing their eagerly awaited debut album "Yolk" on October 14th which includes new single ‘Cry Baby’ and ‘Milk Teeth’, the album fuses massive riffs with lead singer Romily’s unmistakable vocals and evocative lyrics, which are equal parts beautiful and menacing. Musically, the band mixes elements from across the hard rock canon to create something entirely fresh and modern. Along the way, the band have also picked up key supporters at Radio 1 with Fearne Cotton, Zane Lowe and Daniel P. Carter, all playing Japanese Voyeurs on their shows.

Drawing comparisons with artists like Kyuss, PJ Harvey, and Nirvana, Japanese Voyeurs have built up an ardent live following among rock fans across many genres through constant touring – alternative, metal, grunge revivalists, and rock fans are all swept up. The Guardian called the band’s live shows ‘An onslaught of noise and intense psychodrama to soundtrack the most vicious hair-flailing’.

“Yolk” was recorded with GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine/The Melvins/Jesus Lizard) in an isolated farmyard in the forests of Canada, and mixed by Alex Newport (Fudge Tunnel/At The Drive-In) in the sweat of the Brooklyn summer. The track “Feed” includes vocal contributions from J. Mascis, singer/guitarist for pioneering alt/guitar band Dinosaur Jr. Veering from the softest caresses to the most brutal of attacks, you can feel not only the dichotomy between the seclusion of the Canadian wilderness and the strip bars of inner city New York, but the raw emotion that makes the record such a visceral experience.

Romily, the band’s front person sums it up perfectly - “when we started out there weren’t that many new groups making heavy music, the kind of music we liked to listen to when we were growing up, we wanted to recapture that spirit and that brutality”

The band will make several festival appearances this summer throughout Europe including Download, Pukkelpop and Bilbao BBK.

Japanese Voyeurs are Johnny Seymour (Bass), Rikki Waldron (Keys), Romily Alice (Guitar/Vocals) Steve Wilson (Drums) and Tom Lamb (Guitar).
