Release:

Pulverised Records
Distribution - GER: Soulfood ; October 2010

Info:

The pivotal alliance of disheartened melodies and hauntingly unforgettable tunes; this is exactly what longtime Swedish kings of despondence ALGAION is all about.

Thirteen years of unvented disconsolation resulted in the spawn of “Exthros” and is already one of the most powerful and dazzling showcase of amorous melo-riffage, unorthodox yet sensual passages and the undeniably flawless performance of Mathias Kamijo (ex-Pain, Morifade), Mårten Björkman (Arditi, ex-Octinomos) and Robert Eng (Corporation 187, ex-Satanic Slaughter).

“Exthros” is an unrivaled blend of scathing Blackened Death Metal with the incessant alluring gloom that made ALGAION ever so unique to begin with. Be subdued by the dark splendor of “Exthros”!

Biography:

ALGAION was formed in 1993 by Mathias Kamijo and Mårten Björkman. After two demos we signed to the American label Full Moon Productions who released our debut CD "Oimai Algeiou" in late 1994, this CD was the first recording of Peter Tägtgren's Abyss Studio.

In 1995, ALGAION went back to the Abyss Studio to record four new tracks now featuring Peter Tägtgren as our drummer. These tracks came to be released in 1996 by the Italian label Wounded Love Records / Avantgarde Records as the MCD "Vox Clamentis", the same label also released our latest CD "General Enmity" in 1997.

In 1998, ALGAION signed to Swedish label LNP and recorded a new MCD entitled "The Herostratic Legacy" that never saw release due to LNP filing bankruptcy.

Dispirited, following the problems with LNP, ALGAION went on to devote their time to other projects. Mathias toured worldwide playing guitar with Peter's bands Hypocrisy and Pain while Mårten started the band Arditi, which has released four CDs on various labels and has been featured on the two latest CDs by Marduk.

Algaion got together again in late 2007 and have now written new songs and gathered a live line-up.
