Info:

It started the way it always does.

In the summer of 2004 Matti Reinola and Ari Nieminen decided to start a new band, which would concentrate on playing slow and doomy metal. As the guys already had years of band experiece, the original idea was to just combine the qualities of their existing bands, Matti's dark rock act Shamrain and Ari's thrashing death metal band Dauntless into something special.

During the following winter, the first tunes were written, but because of the other band commitments, Hanging Garden started like a true doom band should; slowly. As the winter subsided in early 2005, Reinola and drummer Janne Jukarainen put their former band Grayscale into rest and recruited Shamrain guitarist Mikko Kolari to play guitar. With the colours of the following fall entered the other guitarist Saku Manninen and the Hanging Garden sound was born.

The band’s 1st promo CD saw the daylight just in time for the Finnish Metal Expo in February 2006. Some three months later Hanging Garden inked a deal with Spikefarm Records. A deal, that sees its fruition in the form of “Inherit the Eden”, the most impressive doom metal debut out of Finland in years.

Inherit the Eden is like a painting you can’t help but watch. Athmospheric and brutal at the same time. Gloomy and ethereal, yet strangely fascinating. Like a glass hammer, it’s crushing and fragile. And once you get the Hang of it, you’ll want to crawl under it. Time and time again.
