Info:

Wise Blood Records presents the new album from Indianapolis doom titans VEILCASTE, entitled "Precipice“. Originally formed as Conjurer in the winter of 2010, the band changed names to Veilcaste in early 2020. After releasing Veilcaste's split with Tusk in 2022, Wise Blood was eager to collaborate again. The result is a crushing and cathartic album of world-ending heaviness. VEILCASTE will enchant fans of emotive sludge (Yob, Neurosis), burly doom (Electric Wizard, Conan), and even death/gloom like Mother of Graves and Tiamat.

"To people that know heavy music, I usually say we’re a spacey doom metal band," shares guitarist John Rau. "At our core we try to convey emotion through really heavy harmony. We want people to oscillate and to still be feeling it after they see us."

The album is heavier than a dying star, and it's no wonder why. Rau's riffs have always been huge enough to cast shadows. But the band was also assisted by recurring collaborator and honorary sixth member Carl Byers (ex-Coffinworm) with mixing and recording.

"For mastering we chose to work with Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room," Rau confirms. "He has done amazing work for Yob, Cough, Windhand, Pelican, Lord Mantis, Apostle of Solitude, and more. Needless to say, he knocked our record out of the park."

The album's intensity and darkness is partially due to vocalist Dustin Mendel's lyrics. The stanzas are rife with disappointment and decay, passion and pain. The words bellow like raw poetry from a bruised soul. But there's also a distant glimmer of hope in the album's black skies.

"If our last LP 'Sigils' was about magick gone wrong, then 'Precipice' is about when magick goes right," Mendel explains. "This record is our most personal in terms of lyrics. We drew from what’s been going on in our lives over the last 4 years and all of the changes we’ve gone through in that time."

The stunning cover art by Luca Martinotti (IG: @SoloMacello) will look amazing on Vinyl and Jewel Case CD. "Precipice" will swallow all light when it's released on February 10th, 2023.
