Info:
Vienna 2007. The Dragonslayer Project caused an uproar on the Austrian scene. What began simply as a project, quickly became an established band, playing numerous successful shows. Even established bands such as Axxis, Sonata Arctica, Serenity, Powerwolf and Paul Di'Anno relied on the band as an excellent support act. During the recording sessions, the band changed its name to the simpler DRAGONY and signed a contract with Limb Music in 2011. Six years later DRAGONY is now presenting their third studion album entitled "Masters Of The Multiverse". Ten brand new symphonic metal hammers which cover the entire breadth of the genre.
After changing the band name to DRAGONY in 2011, the band signed with Limb Music, who released the debut album "Legends" in 2012. Even the well-known German mag "Metal Hammer" awarded it six out of seven points in its review. The band call their style "Glory Metal" and things went well for the lads despite line-up changes. Shows with Blind Guardian, Primal Fear and Powerwolf opened new doors for them. The calls for a second album soon became louder and in 2015 the band was ready to present its new album, "Shadowplay" which was recorded with the support of Austrian and international musicians. The opulent orchestral arrangements, which enhance songs such as "Wolves Of The North" and "Babylon", were the work of Lukas Knoebl, the mastermind of the symphonic metal band ILLUMINATA from Graz. Notable musicians also took part, such as Zak Stevens (Savatage, Trans Siberian Orchestra and Circle II Circle) who participated on the album as guest vocalist. The album received its final polish in the renowned Dreamsound Studios at the hand of Jan Vacik (Serious Black, Serenity etc), whilst the responsibility for the stunning cover artwork was given to the Hungarian artist Péter Sallai (Sabaton, Satyricon etc).
Besides an extensive European tour with Gamma Ray on their "25 Years in Metal" tour, the lads from Vienna attracted yet more attention with their David Haselhoff "True Survivor" video. 2015 ended with live appearances at two of Austria's biggest festivals, the Donauinsel festival (which has over a million visitors every year) and the Nova Rock.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band's founding and the fifth anniversary of their debut album "Legends", they took the opportunity to release a special birthday EP. "Lords Of The Hunt" contained not only two brand new tracks but a high content of bonus material - new recordings of fans' favourites, demo versions and video clips. The title track recently reached the 200,000 mark on the digital music service, Spotify.
Encouraged by the EP^s success, DRAGONY returned to the studio to start work on their third album. Additional financing, to move the standard of production up a step, was raised via a crowd-funding campagne. Working closely with producer and engineer Frank Pitters in his Silverline Music Studios in Vienna, the band recorded "Masters Of The Multiverse", their most diverse and detailed album to date.
The ten new tracks are nicely balanced and cover the entire spectrum from stamping riff monsters to high speed bombers to epic ballads. Not only does Sabaton guitarist Tommy Johansson feature on the album, but one is also treated to the vocals of Van Canto singer Ross Thompson and the German vocalist Nora Bendzko. Between hammering riffs and tempered but complex parts, catchy melodies and substantial choruses play a significant role in the overall sound of the new album. "Defenders" is a particularly good example. The somewhat slower "The Iron Price" has excellent solo parts but is based more on an epic platform. The fast "Grey Wardens" is one of the core tracks of the album. The cover version of Stan Bush's "The Touch" absolutely throbs.
The constant presence of keyboards gives the music a superb volume and, at the same time, a very high melodic content. The same applies to the regular presence of the multi-vocal choral parts. The sound is crystal clear and is rich in detail. As a result, the album, mastered in the Finnvox Studios, promises great listening pleasure.
A lavish video clip was filmed to "If It Bleeds We Can Kill It", whilst lyric videos are being released to "Flame Of Tar Valon" and "Defender". Autumn 2018 will bring live performances in the Czech Republic (Masters Of Rock Festival) as well as at the Polish City Of Power Festival, shows with Battle Beast and finally a European tour with Serenity und Visions Of Atlantis. The mercury in DRAGONY's barometer has risen to bursting point and "Masters Of The Multiverse" is the latest reason why.
