In the Absence of Light
Abigail Williams

Candlelight Records / Soulfood
22.10.2010 (GER)

With the release of In the Absence of Light, the second full-length album from Abigail Williams, media and fan alike can no longer question exactly what the band is.... that being one solid, riffing, intense black metal band. Recorded at Conquistador Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, eight new songs comprise this very important recording for the band. Vocalist/guitarist Sorceron with engineer Cole Martinez commanded the audio takes while Peter Tagtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Celtic Frost) mixed the tracks. The record was mastered at Black Lounge Studios in Sweden. Sorceron recently commented, the new songs are far more guitar-driven and have a bit more of a traditional sound in some ways. We let ourselves have much more room with writing this album, kind of a more open, free environment than what we have done in the past. The studio experience this time round was very natural to us. We recorded everything with much more ease and I think it has helped in capturing a very honest vibe. Abigail Williams have been called a buzz band, and a band to watch. They have endured more than their fair share of opposition, including revolving door member changes and in 2007 altogether disbanding. But through it all, the core of the band has kept a level head, a steady eye, and an unbridled passion for what they do. Road warriors, the band have continually toured supporting their recording efforts, greeting fans and making friends along the way. Touring in support of In the Absence of Light will kick off on release (dates with Immolation & Vader).
