Info:
Since the bands 2008 debut Spite, MARIONETTE has continued to inject new light and energy into the metal genre. Founded in 2005, when the average member’s age was 16, MARIONETTE quickly gained substantial attention in the Swedish metal scene by winning or placing high in many national and international music contests. In support of their EP Terror Hearts -which was mixed and mastered by Fredrick Nordström (In Flames, At The Gates) – MARIONETTE shared the stage with some of the world’s most renown metal acts including: Machine Head, Slayer, Mastodon, Meshuggah, and Candlemass among others. In January of 2008, Marionette recorded its debut album, Spite, with a series of up-and-coming as well as established producers in Swedish music: including two time Swedish Grammy winner Åke Parmerud. Spite was mixed and mastered by Christian Silver (Sonic Syndicate).
Mixing elegance, darkness, power, aggression, and speed, Marionette’s debut album, Spite, hit the metal scene with the power of an atomic bomb in April 2008, receiving raving reviews from mainstream and underground publications around Europe. The album was released across North America in September of the same year. After extensive touring in Europe with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter; Scandinavia with Deathstars and Sonic Syndicate; and the UK both as a headliner and with the Deathstars, Marionette began recording material for it’s second album, Enemies.
In keeping with the approach established for Spite, MARIONETTE assembled a production team for Enemies including Pontus Hjelm (Dead By April) and Åke Parmerud for tracking; and Fredrik Nordstrom (In Flames, At The Gates) and Peter In De Betou (Dimmu Borgir, Meshuggah) for mixing and mastering. Musically, Enemies picks up where Spite left off: adding more aggression, complexity and anger to every element of the bands established sound. Lyrically, Enemies is an onslaught directed at authority and those who blindly follow. With a fall 2009 release planned via Listenable Records worldwide, Enemies is sure to bring attention back to the Gothenburg sextet.
