Biography:

Certainly a determined band if there ever was one, the death metal band Noumena (formed in 1998, Ähtäri, Finland) did not let a bitter experience with a Singapore-based company grind them down, although it left them with an unreleased album. Instead, they continued honing their craft until the Australian Catharsis Records finally got an album called "Pride/Fall" out, consisting of songs created in studio sessions of 1999 and 2001.

The hybrid of death metal seasoned with 80s metal flair garnered great reviews and finally a new promo-CD hit the jackpot, subsequently arousing the interested of the ever so wicked Spikefarm label enough to offer the Ähtäri deathsters a deal.

The debut album recording-sessions were held in the Sundi Coop Studios (Finntroll, Ajattara, Trio Niskalaukaus etc.), and with this debut album called “Absence”, Noumena certainly set a few things straight about melodic death metal.

Recorded and mixed in Studio Sundi Coop by Tuomo Valtonen and mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila, the second Noumena album “Anatomy of Life” has now been unleashed.

On their second album Noumena have evolved, and changed their approach to melodic death: ”This time we worked more on the terms of the songs themselves. We didn’t want to squeeze every song into the same format”, says guitarist Tuukka Tuomela. ”However, all those heavy rhythms and catchy melodies are still on their proper places”.

With the help of this intensive new album and all those years of experience, Noumena will, with their flinty and leaden music, renew the periodic system of metal music!
