Jawbreaker Records are proud to announce the release of the self-titled debut EP by IMPENDING TRIUMPH.
July 2020. After months of forced reclusion, singer François Blanc (Angellore, Abduction) went to Opus Magnum Studios in Brussels and met his friend Déhà (Wolvennest, Drop Dead Chaos and many other bands/projects) with a very specific goal in mind: starting a pure f***ing heavy metal project. Inspiration was flowing right from the start and in less than a day, “Armies Of The Conqueror” was written and recorded. This powerful track would set the tone for the entire EP. Heavy, epic, powerful metal rendered with burning passion: IMPENDING TRIUMPH was born!
“Even before we started composing”, explains François, “we knew that all our lyrics would talk about the exploits and conquests of Puritania, a fictional empress who claims to be a true defender of liberty but really is a tyrant in disguise. The events take place in a fantasy setting, and the story is told by one of Puritania’s biggest admirers and most loyal followers. With time and experience, his fascination may turn into something else though…”
Naming MANOWAR, ACCEPT, RUNNING WILD & HELLOWEEN as its main influences, IMPENDING TRIUMPH is a heartfelt tribute to heavy metal as a genre, and offers a fresh approach on a theme that will never be outdated: the importance of free-thinking and standing its ground.
And this self-titled EP is just the beginning! The duo is currently hard at work on its first full-length album, which is already half-written and will be finished in 2023. As stated in the lyrics of “The Invisible Fortress” – arguably the catchiest, most noticeable song of the EP – “Puritania is here to stay. Triumph or death – there is no other way!!!”
Recorded between July 2020 and November 2021 in Opus Magnum Studios (Brussels). Engineered, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Déhà. Cover artwork by Sébastien Grenier. Logo made by Florent “Celin” Castellani.
