Release:
Massacre Records 13.06.2008
Info:
Resurrection was formed in 1990 in Tampa, Florida. The band quickly entered Morrisound studios under direction of Scott Burns and produced a 4 song demo. This demo was used by the band strictly for promotion and was sent to hundreds of magazines, fanzines, metal radio shows, and record labels. This plan worked and Resurrection was getting press in the metal scene far and wide. The demo along with the influx of press garnered the attention of Nuclear Blast Records founder Markus Staiger. Staiger asked the band to go back into the studio and cut a few more tracks with the hope of getting a recording contract. Staiger liked what he heard and offered the band a contract and in the meantime used the new recordings for the Death is Just the Beginning II sampler and video and other compilations and 7” splits.
The band entered Morrisound studios in November of 1992 with Burns at the helm to record their debut album Embalmed Existence. Drummer and friend Alex Marquez was asked to rehearse and record with the band due to the band having to let their own drummer go only one month before recording the album. Alex agreed…..Embalmed was released in April 1993. The album was received very well by the metal community and the band was featured in all of the major magazines and such. The album was picked by MTV’s headbangers ball as one of the best releases of 1993 and was shown on air many times. Resurrection toured in support of the album. The band faced many problems which forced them to re-evaluate their direction in 1996, and the members went in their own directions…………..
Resurrection has been back together since 2005 and has recorded one 4 song recording for promotional purposes and has secured a new recording contract with Massacre Records. Resurrection has been the featured headliner at select festivals in North America and is planning full-blown tours.
Resurrection is back to pick-up where they left off delivering a hellish cross-fire of extreme Florida Death Metal. A lot has changed in the metal world and we want to show people what real Florida Death metal is all about. This is the real thing- Pure Florida Death metal by one of the genre’s most respected underground gems.
