A party organiser in the Bavarian town Maisach wanted some bands to perform. Guitarist René Berthiaume had a good mind to do so with a band. He wanted to woop it up on stage. In the ambit of Munich René found qualified “combatants”. The gig was a huge success. The songs of Dimmu Borgir, Hypocrisy, Cryptic Wintermoon and similar sounding bands, rehearsed in a very short time, aroused very positive reactions. This prompted the foundation of EQUILIBRIUM. Soon the band composed songs on their own and already after the first pieces of music it became clear which musical direction EQUILIBRIUM would move. Using elements of Viking, Dark, Heathen, Black und Melodic Metals EQUILIBRIUM create a kind of music they call Epic Viking Metal. The German lyrics deal with fantasy topics and such from Germanic mythology (Edda). With their own repertoire of songs the band played some more gigs and earned the favour of a steadily growing fan following. Unfortunately former keyboarder Michael Heidenreich left the band in summer 2002 due to personal reasons. Fortunately Conny Kaiser compensated the lost member. But at the beginning of 2003 drummer Henning Stein quit playing drums due to physical problems. So EQUILIBRIUM were not able to perform live for a while. To be able to rehearse EQUILIBRIUM had the idea of simply using drum playback in the background. This worked out so properly, the band tried out this solution for some live gigs. Besides that EQUILIBRIUM startet to produce a demo-CD („Demo 2003“), which meanwhile received a great number of positive reviews. Comments like wie „six immense amusing night hymns of the upmarket quality class“ (Legacy), „ingenious self produced music“ (Mordor-Magazin), „an opulence of diversification, atmosphere, epic spectrum“ (Eternity Magazin) oder „exhilarating compositions“ (Metalmessage) exactly describe the quality of EQUILIBRIUM. In Spring 2003 a „real drummer“ substituted the electronic one. But half a year later again EQUILIBRIUM lost a member. This time Conny quit due to a lack of time. Today the line up consists of Helge Stang (vocals), René Berthiaume (guitar), Andreas Völkl (guitar), Sandra Völkl (bass) und Julius Koblitzek (drums). The now released debut „Turis Fratyr“ follows the path of the demo. Besides some re-recorded demo-tracks it contains eagerly awaited new material. Recorded in the HELION-STUDIOS (Munich) under direction of band-guitarist René and Tommy Hermann (Darkseed) a lesson of epic-melodic Pagan Metal was created. Henceforth all releases of the genre have to match with „Turis Fratyr“ !
