It Was Ten Years Ago and Now…
Formed in 1996, this talented trio is comprised of Malja (guitar/vocals), Nordberg (bass) and Heikkonen (drums). Taking the advantage of being friends since childhood they've had the time to create their own melancholic sound. Comparisons to bands such Mew or Coheed And Cambria are not far fetched but only part of the outline; the actual substance is free of carbon copies. Lapko have already made a name for themselves in Finland through their debut album The Arms, earlier EPs, festivals and in-your-face live shows. Fusing together Malja's powerful vocals, Heikkonen's dynamic drumming and Nordberg's bass backed up by the band's artistic vision Lapko really have something to look forward to.
After releasing their debut on Jukeboss Records in November 2004, the band soon signed to Fullsteam Records for a second album release.
Second album Scandal, released in January 2006, made it all make sense. Having played together almost a decade Lapko had finally managed to record their compliant and unpolished sound. Scandal is about cohesive hurdles between the bleak and the wounded, the glory of intellectual and emotional existence and the irony of it all. Seen as a conceptual album 'Scandal' stands for its basis and its basics. Album's 12 tracks reflect something that has already been here in every modern day of music, relating at a distance. Feelings of feeling small and confused in this strange world, breaking the waves with intensity.
Scandal debuted #2 on official album chart in Finland. During the few past months all shows have been sold. Final breakthrough is about to come.
