Release:

Peaceville / SPV
November 2007

Info:

Since their formation in the early nineties Novembre has always been one of the leading lights of the atmospheric metal scene, though perhaps not yet quite receiving the recognition they so rightly deserve. Last year’s ‘Materia’ album, the Italian’s first for Peaceville went some way to rectifying this - resulting in a tour with labelmates Katatonia, and now they return with ‘The Blue’; undoubtedly their most accomplished and diverse work to date.

The seeds of Novembre were originally planted in September 1990 in Rome, Italy, by the brothers Carmelo Orlando (guitars and vocals) and Giuseppe Orlando (drums). Then known as Catacomb, their early recordings of unusual gothic doom metal were to quickly gain the band interest. It was around 1993 that the brothers decided that a name change was in order, and Novembre was born.

In 1994 the band recorded their highly-acclaimed debut, ‘Wish I Could Dream It Again...’ at Unisound Studio (Dan Swano – Katatonia, Dissection, Marduk) and quickly became known as one of the earlier bands of the atmospheric metal scene. The band released several albums on Century Media Records before signing a deal with Peaceville.

Following the success of 2006’s debut Peaceville album from Novembre, ‘Materia’, and on the back of the great acclaim received by the band for it’s highly successful blend of atmospheric, emotional and progressive rock/metal elements comes the new studio recording titled ‘The Blue’. Featuring an even greater dynamic – both vocally and musically -and twists of doom/gothic which brings to mind classic bands such as Opeth, Paradise Lost & Anathema, Novembre are poised to impress all fans of the genre.

‘The Blue’ was recorded at Outersound Studios, Italy, by the band, with additional recording completed at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki. Mixed at Finnvox Studios by Mikko Karmila (Nightwish, Sentenced, Sonata Arctica, Amorphis). ‘The Blue’ features artwork by Travis Smith; well known for his work with bands such as Opeth and Katatonia.

A promotional video for one of the highlight tracks, ‘Anaemia’ is also planned, as is a European tour.
